Overcoming the deficiencies of free-radical and cationic photoinitiators with photobase generators
Free-radical and cationic photoinitiators are often used in UV-curing systems. However, there can be problems with oxygen inhibition and shrinkage of polymerised product in the free-radical processes and with metal corrosion in the cationic processes. To remedy this, photobase generators have been developed for use in electronic materials and other fields.
Here you can read an abstract of an article about the different types of photobase generators, selection criteria and their application in various reactions. The article was written by Imazeki S. et. al and was published in the July/August 2018 issue of the European Coatings Journal.
