µTASWakoTM i30 – new generation of clinical analyzers
Wako Chemical GmbH proudly presents at the Medica 2010 exhibition (Nov 17th to 20th, Dusseldorf, Germany) a milestone in laboratory medicine, the clinical analyzer µTASWakoTM i30, on display at its booth B38 in hall 2.
The µTASWakoTM i30 instrument employs microfluidic disposable assay chips for in vitro diagnostic immunoassays. This approach enables miniaturisation and integration of multiple laboratory processes on a single microdevice and thus fulfils the concept of a “micro Total Analysis System” (µTAS) for routine diagnostic assays.
The assay principle involves DNA-coupled antibodies and dye-labelled antibodies, which react with proteins in liquid phase within the microchannels. In a first step isotachophoresis is used to concentrate immunocomplexes. In the second step capillary gel electrophoresis separates complexes due to different migration speed. Laser-induced fluorescence is used to quantify the separated analytes. The first assay panel consists of the biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma AFP-L3% (fucosylated AFP) and DCP (des-carboxy-Prothrombin). Each assay is performed in less than 10 minutes and 25 tests can be run within 1 hour. Wako Chemicals GmbH will launch µTASWakoTM i30 in European markets early 2011.
